What Is an Artist?
Native Artist Talking Circle
Once a month
Location: Chehalis Tribal Loan Fund Office
214 E Pine St, Oakville WA 98568
A hybrid Zoom option is available.
An artist is more than paint or canvas.
In our community, an artist might be someone who beads, weaves baskets, carves, paints, or sews regalia. It might be someone who performs comedy or storytelling, prepares fish traditionally, makes dry meat, or gathers and preserves berries. It might be someone who simply carries a skill or story passed down through generations and wants to share it.
There are so many gifts in our communities. The Chehalis Tribal Loan Fund wants to help create a space where those gifts can be shared, celebrated, and passed on to future generations and local families.
We are building a Native Artist Talking Circle — a monthly gathering for artists, culture bearers, and knowledge holders. Whether you are a seasoned artist or just starting out, there is a place for you here.
Supplies are provided for hands-on learning, and a small-dollar artist loan program is available to help participants purchase tools, equipment, or materials to grow their work.
If you have a skill, story, or tradition to share, we would love to connect with you.
